Thanks for coming!

A huge thank you to everybody who stopped by smock smock's table at Urban Craft! Everyone had such lovely things to say about the items on display, and it was very encouraging to see that even today there is still a definte interest in smocking. I was surprised to see how many people were familiar with the technique already, and it seemed to bring back some fond memories for quite a few! "Oh, my grandma used to do that!" is a phrase that I heard several times throughout the day.

I'd also like to publicly (or at least digitally) thank the organizers of the show. The turn out to the event was AMAZING and totally beyond what I was expecting, which I think is mostly due to the fact that Urban Craft was so well promoted. The whole day went down without any problems at all (at least on my end, ha ha), and as my first show, I can say that the experience has definetly left me wanting to do more!

Another pleasant surprise of the day was the sheer awesomeness of the other vendors. Not that I was expecting anything less than brilliance from what I had seen on their websites so far, but getting to see their work in person left me even more amazed. I really had no idea that Ottawa was harbouring such crazy talent! I spent the whole day trying to drag my eyes away from Ellie and Len Handmade's gorgeous jewllery, and if I could hire Eufemia Bella to decorate my whole house, I totally would! With online selling become so popular, it was very inspring to see how much work people put into their displays and the in-person vending experience. Since the whole point of handmade items is their uniqueness and personalized...ness? it is great to see that interactions between customer and creator can also be very individual.

As for the future of smock smock, I heard about a few upcoming shows that I am hoping to participate in, so you should be getting another chance to check us out in person very shortly!
